Plant description : Botanical family : Onagraceae Evening Primrose is a biennial flowering plant native to eastern and central North America, and has been naturalized to temperate and subtropical areas worldwide. It is alternately known as Evening Star and Sundrop. The plant produces leaves and flowers in a spiral along its stem, which can grow to 5 feet in height. The bright yellow flowers are only produced the second year. They bloom quickly in the evening and die off by noon the following day. Evening Primrose flowers are hermaphroditic (contain both male and female reproductive parts), so can self-pollinate.
