Botanical name :  Hippophae rhamnoides
Extraction method / Source :  Cold Pressed and Filtered / Fruit and Seeds
Shelf Life :  12 months or more, if stored in an airtight container away from heat and light. Refrigeration will increase the shelf life of all fixed oils. Note that this oil may solidify at lower temperatures.

Plant description :  Botanical family :  Elaeagnaceae Sea Buckthorn, alternately known as Sandthorn, Sallowthorn and Seaberry, is a deciduous shrub that produces stiff thorny branches and pale, silver-green leaves. This species has both male and female plants. Male shrubs produce brown flowers which send pollen to the female shrubs on the wind. Female shrubs produce juicy red berries which are rich in vitamins and emollient oils.
Regions of Production :  Russia
Growing Practices :  Plants indigenous to the area are harvested from the wild away from chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

Uses :  Sea Buckthorn is used specifically to treat damaged skin. With emollient oils and rich in beta carotene and Vitamin E, it helps to speed wound healing. It is highly concentrated, but can be used alone in very small amounts. It is best combined with other fixed oils and can be used with essential oils.
Safety :   Nontoxic.  May temporarily stain the skin.
