The coconut tree is a tall tropical palm which can grow to a height of 100 feet. It produces large pinnate leaves atop a ragged brown trunk. The name coconut is deceiving, as the fruit is not a true nut. The fruits are large oval capsules covered in a husk, and filled with sweet white flesh and milk.

Pure unrefined coconut oil is semi-solid at room temperature, but melts quickly on the skin and is readily absorbed. It is white, with a mild distinctively coconut scent and taste.

Anti-bacterial, emollient, rejuvenative

Although coconut oil has primarily been used in food production in the past, it is gaining popularity as an ingredient in natural skin care. The oil lends itself well to making home made skin care products. It is a great moisturizer for dry and mature skin, and a quick fix for chapped lips. Helpful in the treatment of eczema and psoriasis. Coconut oil is a gentle and effective natural make-up remover.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct light. Refrigeration prolongs the freshness of all natural oils..

Nontoxic, Avoid if you are allergic to coconut

Pure essential oils are highly concentrated plant extracts. Do not use them undiluted, or in the eyes or mucus membranes. If applying an essential oil to the skin, always dilute it with a proper carrier oil and test on a small patch of skin before applying to a large area. Do not take them internally except under the direction of a qualified professional trained in Aromatherapy. Always familiarize yourself with the safety, contraindications and proper preparation of each essential oil before use. Note that when using essential oils for children and the elderly, very low concentrations should be used. Keep all essential oils away from children and pets.
